How to Extend Bali Visa
There are several ways you can stay longer in Bali using a Bali visa extension. Extension procedures and requirements may differ depending on your visa type. And the type of visa that is a mandatory document for tourism purposes is a visa on arrival (VOA) or a tourist visa.
1. Paying Extendable Visa On Arrival (VOA)
The first way is to pay for a visa on arrival which costs 35 US Dollars. This visa can be extended once for an additional 30 days. If you come from a country that is allowed visa-free entry, this extension is mandatory if you have spent 30 days in Indonesia using the free visa on arrival, but still wish to stay longer.
After the 30 days have expired, you can extend your visa once for a longer stay in Indonesia for the next 30 days. To extend this visa on arrival extendable, you can do the whole process yourself or through a Bali visa agent.
Extending a VOA independently is indeed cheaper, but the option of using a visa agent is felt to be faster and easier, even though the cost is 2-3 times more expensive. If you prefer to extend your VOA with the help of an agent, here are the steps and documents you need:
- 500,000 Rupiah to extend the VOA.
- Valid passport.
- 800,000 – 1,150,000 Rupiah to pay for Bali visa agent services.
- Transportation to the immigration office in Bali.
Steps:
-
Get a Visa On Arrival (VOA)
You will not be able to extend your Bali visa if you do not have a visa on arrival. If you are from a country that meets the requirements for visa-free entry to Indonesia for 30 days, you still have to pay VOA if you intend to extend your visa.
Here’s how to get your VOA. When you arrive at the airport, you must go to the VOA desk before going through immigration. At that table, you can pay VOA 500,000 Rupiah per person. After that, you can proceed to the immigration section so that the officer can stamp your passport with the correct VOA stamp and date.
-
Contact your Bali Visa Agent
Although you are advised to process the extension at least 7 – 14 days before the expiry date, you should extend it as soon as you arrive in Bali. That way, you don’t have to worry about your vacation being disrupted because you have to think about extending it in the middle of the fun of your vacation.
During this process, the agent will ask for information and details about your passport. Then, you just have to wait for them to contact you when the process is complete (usually 5 – 10 working days).
-
Go to the Immigration Office for Photo and Fingerprint
If the process is complete, the Bali visa agent will contact you to tell you when to go to the immigration office. Upon arrival at the immigration office, you will be met by a visa agent to get your ticket and then take your photo and fingerprints. The whole process is quite fast, only 5 minutes.

Visa Extension Successful
Usually, it only takes 1-2 days after the immigration office, you will get a message from the visa agent telling you that your visa extension has been completed and you can pick it up.
2. Get a 60 Day Tourist Visa Before Going to Bali
